Cliffhouse [In Words]

The house

As the name suggests, Cliffhouse perches above the Caribbean Sea on the North West Coast of Jamaica, in a quiet fishing village called Cousin’s Cove. The property nestles in nearly 2 acres of tropical woodland with the house perched 10 metres from the cliff edge giving breathtaking views of the ever changing sea, the glorious evening sunsets and the moonshine dancing on the waves.

Various interior and exterior shots of Cliffhouse

The house is a solid brick built construction with double height ceilings to ensure good air circulation and a cool environment, even at the height of summer heat.

The house has recently been refurbished to a high standard and air-conditioning has been added to the three master bedrooms.. Our aim is to create a homely, friendly space with modern amenities, without losing the charm and quality of a genuine Jamaican hideaway.

One of the main features of the house is the huge double height living room and kitchen area. Even though the majority of your time will be spent outside it is a wonderful space to have in case those tropical rainstorms hit the island. The furniture is minimal, just large comfortable sofas, a CD/MD music system, telephone and fax machine, we don’t think you need much more.

Through double doors leading off the kitchen you will find the day room providing the focal point for the daily life at Cliffhouse. A high wooden roof offers shade for mealtimes around the large dining table. The only problem you may find is choosing where to sit - looking out to sea or back across the swimming pool and tropical landscape. There is a barbecue so you can cook your lobster, chicken or whatever takes your fancy. And, the music system has been planned so that you can listen to music either in the living room, by the pool or in the dayroom (or all at the same time).

The house has a well-equipped kitchen containing an American-style fridge with ice and water dispenser, oven, microwave, toaster, juicer, kettle and dishwasher. We have stocked the kitchen with plenty of crockery and cutlery to easily cater for up to twelve people.
